Metallic snare hit

SNARE 0.5s 2ch
metallic snare hit

About this sample

This metallic snare hit combines a sine wave with a rapid pitch sweep from 300Hz down to 180Hz to create a sharp thud. Layered on top are inharmonic sine tones at 412Hz, 734Hz, 1150Hz, and 2100Hz with varying decay rates, simulating metal shell resonances. A high-passed white noise layer at 1500Hz adds the snare wire snap, while a brief 2ms burst of high-frequency noise defines the attack transient. The combined signal is saturated with a tanh function to add harmonic richness and then processed with a high-pass filter to clean up low-end rumble, finally presented in a slightly widened stereo image.

Suitable for electronic or experimental genres, this snare fits well in tempos around 120-140 BPM but can be adapted to others due to its short 0.5-second length. It works effectively as a standout percussive hit or layered under heavier drums to add metallic texture. Care should be taken when mixing to balance its bright, resonant character so it doesn’t clash with cymbals or other high-frequency elements.
